Tanjah Aladabia- the Arabic equivalent of “literary Tangier”- is an independent online journal, launched on web from Tangier, a port city in the north of Morocco. The English version of Tanjah Aladabia is naturally an incorporating extension of the original Arabic version, first founded in 2004.

The idea of creating the English version of Tanjah Aladabia has basically stemmed from the awareness that literature, art, and thought have- ever since the dawn of human expression- been borderless and universal areas of knowledge and creativity. Besides, English is increasingly growing more and more into a world-wide spread medium of communication. Hence, an online literary journal in English will undoubtedly widen the scope for global readership and contemporary literary and artistic creations. In so doing, Tanjah Aladabia aims to establish deep-seated bridges of cultural, religious, and racial understanding and exchange among different cultures and nations around the globe.

The number of literature-oriented websites, launched in English, seems far slighter than it is hopefully desired. However, there have recently been more attempts and tendencies to give emerging as well as renown writers good opportunities for online literary publication, and thus to broaden the fields of readership. Tanjah Aladabia, along with other new-born literary websites, strives to appear as another brick in the wall of poetics, marvelously marked by aesthetic graffiti of harmoniously assorted colors- poetry, fiction, essays, arts and so on.

It is an immense wish, as much as a strong will, to make of Tanjah Aladabia a further extended space in the realm of online literature. It is a pleasant dream that can certainly come true by the heartening support of writers and readers.

It is in this respect that the English version of Tanjah Aladabia seeks to attract the interest, as much as the creative contributions of multi-cultural, English-speaking readers and writers.
