The Diaries
Strange, how everything
Seems to have happened just yesterday,
As I open the old diaries and read,
The happiness, the pain, the smiles, the tears,
All that I had gone through many years ago
Each time,
As I pull out the old diaries
From the shelf,
And clear the dust of time,
I have this sudden urge to read,
When my intention is actually
To tear off the pages
And let go all the memories,
Like letting loose
The ghosts from the past
But,
With every word that I read
I live each moment from the past
I see the phases of my life
In the worn out pages
I realize that I've learned
I've changed, I've improved
In all these years...
I keep the diaries back
To where they belong,
So that one day when
I am dead and gone,
People would know through them
That I had lived every moment,
Survived storms of life,
And not merely did I breathe!
